With over 50 years of experience placing people with both small and global companies, we serve clients nationwide from our offices in New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.We are currently seeking an EHS Manager in North Haven, CT.Job PurposeLead, manage, and coordinate all aspects of facility goals and objectives related to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS). The role focuses on developing and implementing programs and procedures to meet facility objectives and targets in the following areas:
Accident Prevention
EHS Regulatory Compliance
Energy Management and Use Reduction
Waste Minimization
Management Systems (as required)
Training Coordination
Corrective Action Implementation
Support of Corporate EHS Audits
Essential FunctionsAs an EHS Manager, you will be responsible for:
Acting as the onsite contact for Corporate EHS Department to manage EPA and OSHA actions, including inspections, complaints, and compliance letters.
Directing EHS reporting requirements and maintaining necessary records.
Ensuring compliance with Corporate EHS policies and directives.
Coordinating waste management programs, including recycling and chemical/solid waste.
Supporting and integrating EHS efforts into Lean, HR, and Supply Chain processes.
Chairing ISO 14000 and 18000 committees, if applicable.
Managing site climate improvement programs.
Developing, measuring, and tracking EHS metrics, plans, and goals.
Training facility EHS Coordinators and supporting new employees.
Maintaining EHS documentation and compliance with customer EHS requirements (e.g., IMDS).
QualificationsTo succeed in this role, candidates must possess the following:
Education: BS Degree in a technical field, preferably EHS (or extensive experience with certificate programs, seminars, and CEUs).
Experience: Minimum 5+ years in a manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of EHS regulations.
Strong background in ergonomics and behavior-based safety is a plus.
Excellent communication, presentation, and computer skills.
Creative problem-solving abilities to balance safety, environmental considerations, and production needs.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management and production teams.
Willingness to travel and work out of the office as required.
