Job Title: Field Technician
Location: Brooklyn, NY
Duration: 6 months Temp to Hire
Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM

We invest in excellent working partnerships, powered by people.Position Overview:We are currently seeking a Field Technician in Brooklyn, NY.Key Responsibilities:MUST HAVES:
  • Previous work experience in the electrical or mechanical testing field
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, and mechanical drawings
  • Proficiency with all basic hand tools and power tools
  • Ability to use a multi-meter, chart recorder, oscilloscope, network analyzers, etc.
  • Comfortable working in a rail yard environment
  • Willing to travel for business trips or field assignments (extensive travel may be needed)
Field Technician Responsibilities:
  • Perform all aspects of work on rail cars in the New Haven Rail Yard and Commissioning Warranty Sites, including electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, repairs, modifications, and other duties as assigned.
  • Work on rail cars in the final assembly process at the New Haven facility or remote sites.
  • Use standard hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, etc.) and perform basic troubleshooting utilizing multi-meters and PC-based test equipment.
  • Read piping diagrams, technical manuals, and electrical schematics to complete job assignments.
  • Perform tests on various systems, including HVAC, Brakes, Propulsion, Communications, Toilet, Trainline, Sign, Automatic Train Control, Pneumatic Leakage, Burn-in, and more.
  • Assist and support the engineering team with various tests when required.
  • Communicate with customers regarding work performed and provide clear reports and documentation.
  • Operate independently without direct supervision and take the lead in assignments, assisting other technicians as needed.
  • Enter discrepancies into the database system and accurately report job hours to the supervisor.
Skills & Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical school or associate degree in engineering preferred)
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic proficiency with Portable Test Equipment (PTE) and ability to download/analyze data
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications and other industry-related software
  • Familiarity with the English measurement system and ability to learn the Metric system
  • Ability to work under pressure with deadlines and adapt to flexible hours/shifts
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and lift/push/pull up to 40 lbs.
