Job Description

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Process Engineer in Thomaston, CT.Position SummaryThis position provides process engineering technical direction to the Product Sustainment Group and supported manufacturing functions.Essential FunctionsPlanning/Organizing
  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions, job travelers, and manufacturing process documentation to ensure accuracy and consistency in production.
  • Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes for efficiency, cost reduction, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with manufacturing and industrial standards.
Process Improvement
  • Lead initiatives to standardize and streamline the manufacturing process to support production goals.
  • Identify bottlenecks in production workflows and propose effective solutions to resolve them.
  • Implement best practices in process documentation and control to enhance overall productivity.
Support & Troubleshooting
  • Provide hands-on support to the production floor to address issues with assembly, testing, and quality assurance.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Assist with the integration of new processes or equipment into the production line.
Documentation & Reporting
  • Create and maintain accurate manufacturing documentation, including process flow diagrams, SOPs, and production logs.
  • Ensure that all job travelers and work instructions are aligned with customer specifications and industry standards.
  • Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to manufacturing processes and improvements.
Accountability
  • Reports to the Sustainment Engineering Manager and collaborates with other internal departments to ensure successful execution of manufacturing processes.
  • Keeps the manager informed of progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering, preferably with rotating machinery or related equipment.
  • Proven expertise in creating work instructions, travelers, and process documentation.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and process improvement tools.
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) and LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
