Quality Control Inspector
Location: Newington, CT (Warehouse)
Pay: $21 - $28/hour (Target is $25/hour)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
There will be some back and forth to Farmington expected.
Job Description: Position Summary:
The Quality Control (QC) Inspector is responsible for verifying the product quality of incoming and in-process goods and evaluating supplier delivery quality. The QC Inspector will document quality notifications, perform stock checks, and transfer materials to production as needed. They will also authorize product delivery from the production unit to the process or end customer, ensuring fulfillment of the Quality Standards (QS).Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and address quality issues, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions.
  • Coordinate material disposition of non-conforming products, including rework, replacement, and acceptance under deviations.
  • Perform inspections of materials in accordance with drawings and standards.
  • Interface with internal departments, internal suppliers, and external suppliers.
  • Implement and improve measures regarding quality control processes.
  • Assist in the management and calibration of measuring devices.
  • Operate Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to inspect products.
  • Systematically follow up on quality issues to ensure verification of effectiveness (both internally and with suppliers).
  • Responsible for escalating issues if no adequate or effective measures are initiated.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Experience:
  • Minimum of two years of experience in quality control within the parts/components manufacturing field.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, with detailed knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
  • Experience with measuring equipment and knowledge of inspection techniques.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in using computer software packages (MS Office); experience with SAP or other ERP systems is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision, fostering a positive "can-do" attitude.
Education:
  • Two-year technical degree or a suitable combination of education and work experience is required.
Additional Notes:
  • The ideal candidate should be a utility player, able to support the full team.
  • Experience in quality control, with a focus on incoming goods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills: please provide an example of a problem you've resolved and the steps you took to resolve it.
  • Solid communication skills, both internally and with suppliers.
  • Consideration will be given to someone currently attending school for manufacturing.
  • Must be mechanically inclined, able to inspect, problem solve, and know how to use tools such as calipers (dial & digital).
  • Must be able to read and understand blueprints, including GD&T.
  • Experience with an ERP system is preferred, especially SAP.
  • Must be computer-savvy, with proficiency in MS Office.
