Job Title: Rail Car Technician Pay: $24.61/hr Location: Staten Island, NY Duration: 6 Months Temp to Permanent Benefits: Full benefits available during the contract period, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.Position Summary and Responsibilities:As a Rail Car Technician, you will:
Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and perform mechanical repairs on rail cars.
Perform metal finishing efficiently and accurately.
Use drawings, procedures, and verbal instructions to set up all work on rail cars.
Create production aids like templates and jigs to assist with tasks.
Perform repairs on various materials and build jigs, fixtures, or production time-saving devices from drawings.
Assemble wire harnesses, terminate wire ends, and route cables or wires in complex areas such as cabs or electric lockers.
Perform soldering for wire connections.
Utilize hand and power tools (electric and pneumatic) efficiently.
Candidates with experience in automotive mechanics, avionics mechanics, military mechanics, or similar fields are strongly encouraged to apply.Qualifications:
Working knowledge of electrical schematics and troubleshooting misfires.
Mechanical aptitude and experience with electrical wiring.
Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors.
Strong work ethic and flexibility with schedules.
