Position Title: Rail Car Technician Duration: 6 months Temp to Hire Location: College Park, MD. Salary: $24.61/hr, depending on experiencePosition Summary and Special Duties:As a Rail Car Technician, your day-to-day duties will consist of, but may not be limited to:Job Details:MUST HAVES
Mechanical aptitude
Electrical wiring experience
Ability to work outdoors & indoors
Rail Car Technician (RCT) - Analyzing, testing, troubleshooting, and performing mechanical repairs on Rail Cars. Technical experience in US Military, Avionics, or Automotive industries are comparable. We look for Automotive mechanics, aviation mechanics, military mechanics (Army, Navy, etc.), and candidates with similar technical experience.Mechanical Responsibilities:
Perform metal finishing efficiently and properly.
Efficiently set up all work on a rail car from drawings, procedures, and written/verbal instructions.
Make production aids such as templates and hand jigs to assist with work.
Perform acceptable repairs on any material.
Build jigs, fixtures, and other production time-saving devices from drawings.
Use hand and power (electrical and pneumatic) tools efficiently.
Electrical Responsibilities:
Efficiently assemble wire harnesses and terminate wire ends.
From drawings, efficiently route cable or wire in complex areas such as cabs, electric lockers, or train line boxes.
Have a working knowledge of electrical schematics and troubleshoot misfires.
Perform soldering to make wire connections.
Candidates must be comfortable working indoors and outdoors.
